Father's Day and the first day of Summer are here!
JUN 19-20

6/18/2010

Well, it's finally here: the first day of summer. Actually, it's on Monday, but it's cool. It's right after Father's Day on Sunday, so that's a pretty good double dip of awesome days. My only complaint is this: we get all psyched up about the first day of summer, and every day after that, but it's also the longest day of the year. That means that for all the incredibly great days of summer ahead, every day we advance is getting shorter. Kind of cruel if you think about it.

But no matter! Here's a glimmer of what's happening this weekend!

RIDE FOR THE BREATH OF LIFE
Take a ride for CF! JOE FM is proud to support the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Ride for the Breath of Life. Starting at noon Saturday, this 100km motorcycle ride starting in Acheson welcomes all kinds of riders and all the funds raised support Cystic Fibrosis research and care. For information on how to register or on the event, visit: www.cfedmonton.ca.

24 HOUR RELAY
One full day, one great cause! JOE FM is proud to sponsor the 24th Annual Money Mart Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay in Rundle Park! Many teams will be taking turns running and walking for 24 hours today to raise funds for Easter Seals. SALVATION ARMY
The Sally Ann needs your help! JOE FM wants you to head out to your nearest Salvation Army Thrift Store today. The National Recycling Operations is raising money to send underprivileged kids to camp. $12,000 needs to be raised, so your help is definitely needed! There's going to be great sales and a BBQ. For ways to donate, or to find out more about the event, visit www.nro.salvationarmy.ca.

CYCLE FOR AUTISM
Eyes are on autism today! JOE FM is proud to support the inaugural Cycle For Autism Edmonton, happening Sunday at Gold Bar Park. Bring the family out to cycle, scooter, run or walk, it’s up to you! Also check out the great activities, good food and excellent music. If you’d like to know more about the event or for ways to donate, visit www.cycleforautismedmonton.com.

Have an awesome weekend, thank your Dad for everything he's done for you! We'll see you around the neighborhood!
